Hindu Temple Priest

We are Hindu Religious charity and developed a very Big temple in London for the Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi and Sri Narayanar with an investment of £5.5.millions. The Temple is having devotees from all over the UK and Europe particularly from London. The temple also having Sri Anjaneya swami and number of other deities. The temple primarily follows the Vaishnava samprathaya (Vaikanasa Agama) but it has the deities of the saiva also. We need minimum of 4 Priests for performing the Hindu religious pujas etc.


Person specification:


·         Should have qualified in Vaikhanasa Agama Bhattaraca , Vaikhanasa pravesha, Vaikhanasa vara certificate and/or should have relevant experience attained through learning from senior priests at Hindu temple.

·         Recognised training, acceptable to the selection panel, in the Hindu Vedas and agamas to enable the carrying out of the priestly duties.

·         Able to conduct Poojas in both the Shaivite and Vaishnavite traditions.

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently, and guide assistant priest(s) as required.

·         Be of exemplary character befitting the position of the Priest in a Hindu Temple and should be vegetarians, abstain from alcohol, tobacco.


Job Description


·         To perform all Pooja (Prayers), Abishekam (bath to deities) and other ceremonies as per traditions of the Temple.

·         To ensure that the deities and the altar are clean and tidy at all times.

·         To liaise with the Temple Administrator and / or chairperson of the Religious Sub Committee and / or other designated representative of the employer.

·         Direct all requests by devotees for special Pooja (prayers) , Abishekam and Homam to the Temple office.

·         To officiate in rituals conducted within the Temple e,g : weddings, religious ceremonies on request from the Temple Administrator and / or other designated representative of the employer and where invited by devotees, and with the agreement of the employer, in places outside the temple e.g House warming, wedding, etc.

·         To carry out such other reasonable religious duties as many requested from time to time by the employer and conveyed by the Trustees

·         Explain and ensure devotee participation in rituals.

·         Adhere to temple rules, processes, procedures and policies




The candidate will be paid £15,000 per year.  One month holiday and other benefits according to the employment Laws of the England and wales.
